Happy Sunday

I hope you all are enjoying your second Sunday of March. Fae and I are home sick, for the second week in a row. But don’t be sad for us, we’re having a grand time resting on the bed, playing with beads, and practicing silly faces in the mirror, and later when little Missy Mae takes her nap, im going to enjoy sewing up some jackets for a pair of lovely little sisters in Alaska.
I had intended to dedicate an entire post to my newest joy of making gorgeous little baby jackets. But instead I’ll just tell you this pattern is wonderfully simple and the results are crisp and fun. Pattern from Anna Maria Horner’s book Welcoming Baby is fabulous. And here are some fun jackets i’ve created so far. Working on more today!

I made a few changes to the pattern to make them more practical for our lives. The major change was adding an iron-on insulator layer (something like quilt batting) to make the jacket warmer. I didn’t want the outter shell of the jacket to look bulky or quilt like, so i ironed this insulator to the lining fabric and then quilted the various pieces before assembling. I also played with button placement and quantity, thinking 3 buttons for a newborn jacket is quite sufficient.

Enjoy your good health while i enjoy my sick day. xo, H
